My Story

About the Founder

Thank you for wanting to find out more about Motus Gym. As the founder of Motus Gym, I believe in the positive ripple effect of incorporating movement into our daily lives, and that every person is so much more capable than they realize of moving better, feeling better, and living better.

I founded this gym because I wanted to create a space that is welcoming to people of all ages and abilities. I feel as if many gyms seem to market more to people in fairly decent shape and former athletes. I love helping everyday clients improve their fitness and grow more capable. The majority of us have many priorities we are juggling and as we continue to age, our bodies’ functional strength and mobility take higher priority than looking like a particular cultural stereotype of what is ideal.

I do not believe in the no pain no gain motto. I believe we should always listen to our bodies. Pain is a clear signal that something is wrong and to ignore that is to ask for an injury later. I believe a positive attitude as well as educating clients on fitness and nutrition, is the key to making lasting changes.

When I was in my late 30’s I started suffering from frequent shoulder pain and I was subsequently diagnosed with scoliosis. I realized then that I needed further education to help take care of my body. As I continue to grow older and in order to help me continue doing all the activities that I love I decided to go to school at the American Academy of Personal Training after turning 40. I have since trained clients of all ages and abilities.

 

Some of my Personal Training qualifications are listed below:

  • 300 Hr Personal Training Diploma from American Academy of Personal Training, Boston
  • NASM Certified Personal Trainer with Distinction
  • NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist
  • 200 Hr RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher)
  • Animal Flow Level 1
  • FMS Level 1 certified
  • Precision Nutrition Level 1 certified
